Veterinary Technicians/ Veterinary Nurses

Last week was Veterinary Technician week.  There is a movement by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America to call registered veterinary technicians registered veterinary nurses instead.  Whether they are called nurses or technicians; they are super heroes in my book.  I rely heavily on my technicians every day and could not function efficiently without them.  They greet my patients in the waiting room, triage on the telephone, and help prepare patients for surgery.  They assist in surgery, they monitor anesthesia, and they help recover my patients after surgery.   Veterinary nurses make sure my patients have their proper medications at the appropriate times.  They make sure the patients are comfortable and all their needs are met.  My technicians here at Ark are some of the best I have ever had the opportunity to work with.  I am thankful every day and blessed to have a team who cares as much about their patients as I do.
